Get ready for the main event as Pokémon celebrates 30 years of Trading Card Games in style with the all-new Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration set. This special release marks the biggest Pokémon TCG event of the year, and we have all the details you need to find out what’s inside the boxes, when the set launches and where to buy it all.
What Makes This Set Different
30th Celebration isn’t an expansion, rather every card in the set is a foil card including the Basic Energy cards in the sets. Every pack will contain 1 of 30 different Pikachu artworks created by 30 different artists. This set marks the first time a Pokémon TCG expansion will be released worldwide on the same day, meaning no different time for other regions. As well as searching for the rare Pikachu cards in every pack, players will be able to find a host of powerful ex cards including Mewtwo ex, Mew ex, Umbreon ex, Salamence ex and Greninja ex.
Release Schedule
The set will not release at the same time. There will be 4 releases for the set.
- September 16, 2026: Elite Trainer Box, Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, Pokémon ex Box, Poster Collection, Tech Sticker Collection, Knock Out Collection, 2-Pack Blister.
- October 2, 2026: The Booster Bundle, the Day & Night Mini Tins, and the Binder Collection.
- October 30, 2026: additional product drop
- November 6, 2026: Ultra-Premium Collection (Day & Night), Ditto Premium Collection, Mewtwo & Mew Figure Collection.
Also, note that the 3 Ultra-Premium Collections (Day & Night and Ditto Premium) as well as the Mewtwo & Mew Figure Collection will be released in November, so September will not be the time to chase after these most expensive of collector focused products.
Where to Buy
Start your Pokémon buying journey at the Pokémon Center where the widest selection of products will be available, including the exclusive Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box which contains 11 booster packs and a variety of promos and extras that you won’t find in other Elite Trainer Boxes. Items will go up for preorder and the launch-day stock will be available for purchase first at the Pokémon Center website. However, as with most Pokémon launches, the Pokémon Center website can be affected negatively by huge demand for products, so it is advised that you have an account and have your payment info up to date before the launch.
However for the standard Elite Trainers and the rest of the Pokémon products from the September wave, you can usually expect to find them at the typical big box stores:
- Target: They have historically been one of the first retailers to receive stock (after Pokémon Center of course), within 30-90 minutes of launch time. New product goes live overnight (1-4AM ET) on Friday or Saturday for launches.
- Walmart
- Best Buy – Currently taking preorders/reservations for the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box.
- GameStop
- Costco and Sam’s Club — these retailers are very good for getting multi-pack club deals, but usually have very limited supply of single items.
Amazon is also selling the 30th Celebration Pokémon products, including the Pokémon Day 2026 Collection.
A Word on the Secondary Market
You can already find 30th Celebration and Pokémon Day 2026 boxes on eBay and similar marketplaces, some even are opened while other are still sealed and for sale at high markups compared to MSRP. All in all we are dealing with a release of massive proportions which in the end will result in high resale prices for all items, especially in the first weeks after the release, for all Pokémon Center exclusives as well as for the items of the Ultra-Premium Collections in November. If you decide to purchase secondary, make sure to stick to sellers with good feedback. In addition double check the listing for the correct SKU and for the correct wave of the item that is listed with the term “30th Anniversary” is used very loosely in this year of the 30th Celebration and is used for many different products.
Tips for Landing Stock at MSRP
- Make accounts + save payment info on Pokémon Center, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Best Buy. Whether you can check out the fastest on drop day is more important than anything for these websites.
- Preorder when possible, the time frame for recent sets have opened up 9 to 13 weeks prior to release, for the upcoming September sets keep an eye out in the coming weeks or months prior to release.
- Keep track of when restock will happen for a product not available online (in stock on shelves) as it usually happens in the afternoon of a week, after the set has dropped for several weeks.
- Don’t overlook the in-store stock at big-box retailers even when their website lists an item as ‘out of stock’ online. The physical stock for the shelves in the stores often arrives at a different time than the online stock.
Bottom Line
As mentioned above for September items such as the Elite Trainer Box, the ex Box, and the various blisters of cards as well as the Ultra-Premium Collections (and the new Ditto Premium Collection which comes out in November as well) Pokémon Center and Target are the first to receive stock to sell to their customers followed by the rest of the retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon. For the November items (the Ultra-Premium Collections and the Ditto Premium Collection) to obtain them at their typical MSRP you will need to get to a retailer on November 6th and good luck as it is expected to be the toughest release to obtain said items at said price point.
